Senior Acoustical Consultant

I grew up in suburban Dublin in the seventies/eighties. A bit of a nerdy kid, by age 15 I had completed the radio ham course and was computer programming on a ZX Spectrum 48k in my room.

My favourite game was ‘Jet Set Willy’, which on reflection, is a game where you mine for goodies using the processing power of a pc. Wow! What a crazy idea.

After my Leaving Cert in 1987, most of my younger years were spent working in the IT industry and studying part-time. Software implementation, Test development, Network and Service fields.

I transitioned into the world of Acoustics in 2004 when I began working for NCRL as a Field and Lab Technician. During this time, I travelled to Bristol, UK to study at the Institute of Acoustics. Continued with my Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control at Ulster University and completed my PGD in Applied Acoustics with Derby University.

Then in 2008, my wife, our two young children, our Wicklow collie and I moved to Australia. I had been offered a position with an Engineering company to manage their Perth office. I had backpacked in Australia in 1992/1993, so it wasn’t all unknown. That is when I met my wife, she was also travelling this great country – so maybe we were always destined to return here.

I spent 8 years with that company and worked for two other Engineering firms and for myself before joining Lloyd George Acoustics in March 2020. Between DIY on an old house, a disabled rescue dog and two teenagers; my hobbies are on hold 😉
