After completing my degree in Engineering at Liverpool University, I became a windsurfing instructor and loved every minute of it 🙂 After a significant amount of time bumming around the world, I eventually got a proper job in the field of acoustics, as a consultant in Adelaide – that was over 20 years ago.
After numerous trips across the Nullarbor in the pursuit of wind and waves, we moved from Adelaide to Perth in 1993 and I worked for environmental consultancies and government agencies before taking over the spare bedroom and starting my own practice in 2001. Working from home gave me the flexibility to attend “board meetings” when the wind got strong in the afternoons.
In pursuit of some “glamour” outside of the usual noise assessments on roads, railways, mines etc, I developed the concert monitoring side of the business and since that time the company has managed the noise at hundreds of outdoor concerts and festivals, including some of the biggest names in the music industry.
Outside of the world of noise and vibration, my passions are windsurfing (still), underwater photography and skiing. I also have a love/hate relationship with golf – enough said!
